The Power of Submission: Week 3
Scriptures:
📖 Hebrews 5:7-10 (NKJV), 7. who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear, 8. though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. 9. And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him, 10. called by God as High Priest “according to the order of Melchizedek,”
đź“– James 1:22-24 (NKJV), 22. But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24. for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.
📖 Romans 7:4-6 (MSG), So, my friends, this is something like what has taken place with you. When Christ died he took that entire rule-dominated way of life down with him and left it in the tomb, leaving you free to “marry” a resurrection life and bear “offspring” of faith for God. For as long as we lived that old way of life, doing whatever we felt we could get away with, sin was calling most of the shots as the old law code hemmed us in. And this made us all the more rebellious. In the end, all we had to show for it was miscarriages and stillbirths. But now that we’re no longer shackled to that domineering mate of sin, and out from under all those oppressive regulations and fine print, we’re free to live a new life in the freedom of God.
Reflection:
Jesus submitted to the Father with cries, tears, and obedience—even through suffering. And in that place of humility, He was exalted. True spiritual maturity doesn’t come from head knowledge but heart submission. We must not just hear the Word—we must become doers.
Submission is a divine exchange: our will for His, our pain for His peace, our weakness for His power.
